We have an open floor plan which would allow us to live on the ground floor if necessary, a requirement that many seniors are now seeking. He built a large covered deck adjacent to the dining room and kitchen with a lovely backyard below. He fenced and gated the backyard and at our request, made sure that we had a sunny area to grow vegetables. He and the landscaper were able to save a lovely, big evergreen tree that anchors a corner of our front yard. John chose simple yet modern finishes for the home that all flow together to create a beautiful, stylish residence. Our home qualified for both Energy Star and Earth Advantage certification which means that the design elements, systems and materials meet strict green building energy standards. “When we first walked into what would become our home, it was semi-completed. The first and most striking thing about the house was the massive windows, and breath-taking view, that defined the room, and by extension for us, the entire house. Beyond the aesthetic impact of the windows, the floor plan was everything; it had obviously been carefully thought out to maximize comfort and function. At that time, John was a new builder to the area, and didn’t have a local reputation that our realtor was aware of. So, prior to being in contract, John put us in contact with the owner of his previous build. After touring her home and discovering what kind of builder John was, we were eager to finalize the contract. Once we were in contract, we had an opportunity to sit down with John and begin to go over the finishes. John’s philosophy was to approach the finishes as being as personalized as possible, to make our home feel as custom as possible, including some changes to the layout of the kitchen. To that end, John had an incredibly organized and well communicated plan for moving through all the choices that we had to make. For each category of finishes, he had an expert we could speak with, a store we could visit, and a very clear budget for everything. In addition to all the options that John had prepared for us, he allowed us to go beyond his pre-identified vendors to find what we liked, with the understanding that if the cost went beyond our pre-established budget, it would be an out of pocket charge. As we finalized our choices, he confirmed the exact choices we had made, before any money was spent, or any deadline was breached. As John walked through the confirmation process with us, several times he caught miss-matched pieces and found the matching option that we were unable to find. John has always answered his phone, or gotten back to us within a day. Whatever the issue, he has either dispatched an expert to resolve the issue, or shown up himself to take care of it. We would definitely recommend John to anybody looking for a builder that will deliver a quality home, with first class finishes, tailored to your own personal style.”
